Welcome to Cross Currents 2010 Conference

The Australian Law Librarians’ Association (ALLA) and the New Zealand Law Librarians’ Association (NZLLA) proudly invite you to attend their second joint conference, to be held in Australia.

The 2010 Conference will be held at the Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne.

Both the ALLA and the NZLLA are professional bodies whose aim is to support and promote the interests of their members by:

  • providing networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities through organisation of meetings and conferences
  • working to improve access to legal information through maintaining contacts with Government, publishers and other key groups
  • building links with other professional groups in their own country as well as their counterparts overseas.

The Theme: "Cross Currents: Charting our Future..."

The name of the conference represents the waters which both separate, and yet bind Australia, New Zealand, the Asia-Pacific region and countries such as the United States.

Following this theme, the programme will include such topics as:

  • emerging technologies;
  • trends in the profession;
  • developments in law publishing and knowledge management; and
  • the future of libraries.

We will also be looking at legal history and the need for preservation of print materials; current issues relating to indigenous affairs; e-democracy and public information and current professional successes and issues. We look forward to welcoming our colleagues from around Australia and overseas to Melbourne this September. It is hoped the conference will provide you with a platform for inspirational and informative dialogue and present a great opportunity for professional networking.
